Pools are fun to make in The Sims 3, especially with the new 'pool party' option that you get with the Season expansion pack. But after a while, every pool starts to look and feel a little samey, sitting there in the dirt all blue and watery. There's actually a whole lot you can do with swimming pools in The Sims 3, one of them is to build them above ground.

An above ground pool can have windows installed (you'll need to install two sets of windows, one set in the walls of the pool and the other in the walls of the supporting walls) so that you can watch sims going for a swim. 

In each case, your above ground pool will need at least a one square border around it. This is so sims can walk around the pool, and it's also the way the game's base mechanics work.

Your above ground pool doesn't have to be fancy like the one pictured above however, it's possible to make one that looks like a cheap above ground pool as many people have in their own homes.

Where To Find The Pool Lounger in Sims 3 

 The pool lounger can be bought in 'Build' mode in the 'Pool Objects' tab, so if your sim wants to buy a pool lounger, all you have to do is go into that area, buy the pool lounger and then place it anywhere on the ground. (You cannot directly place the pool lounger into the pool by yourself.) Once you've placed the pool lounger, direct your sim to 'pick up'. That will then place the pool lounger in your sim's inventory. From then on, you'll be able to click on any pool, and in addition to the 'swim' option will also be a 'lounge' option.
